Agartala airport is also known as Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport (IXA). It is situated 12 km to the northeast of the capital city of Tripura. The airport was established by Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Debbarma Bahadur in 1942. It is frequently operated by airlines such as Air India, IndiGo and SpiceJet.
