Aurangabad airport (IATA: IXU), also called Chikkalthana Airport, is a public airport located in the city of Aurangabad. It commenced its regular operations on 3 March 2009. Indian Airlines, Jet Airways, and Air India are the three major airlines that have direct flight services between the two cities. There are flights to cities including Delhi, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. Several weekly flights are scheduled between Aurangabad and Mumbai, which is a very popular route among commuters. The airport has a domestic and an international terminal. X-ray baggage scanners at these terminals make the scanning process easier and faster. The arrival terminal includes a car rental facility, tourist information centre, hotel booking, and in-flight sales product store for the convenience of the passengers. About Aurangabad

Aurangabad, formerly known as Khadki, is a city in Maharashtra. It is located at a distance of 348 km from Mumbai, mainly in Purna-Godavari Basin and some parts towards Tapi River Basin. Malik Ambar founded the city in 1610. After the era of the Nizam Sh?h? dynasty in 1633, the city came under the Mughal rule. It became the headquarters of Aurangzeb, and the city was renamed Aurangabad. Aurangzeb died in 1707, and the Nizam of Hyderabad occupied Aurangabad. The proposed name is Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Airport. It operates domestic flights exclusively and is located 5 km away from the city of Agra. It has a single terminal with 2 boarding gates.
