Madurai International Airport (IATA: IXM, ICAO: VOMD) is a customs airport serving Madurai and its neighbouring cities and international destinations like Columbo, SIngapore and Dubai. It is located 12 km away from Madurai city. It was built in 1957. It has two adjoining terminals, old and new. The old terminal is used for cargo services, while the new terminal is used for domestic and international flights. The newly integrated terminal is spread over an area of 17,600 sq. m. The airport has several facilities like an executive lounge, restaurants, trolleys, wheelchairs, pharmacy, money exchange and Wi-Fi.
