About Silchar Airport

Silchar Airport is located around 29 km away from Silchar in Kumbhirgram. It was built by the British in 1944 as the RAF base in Kumbhirgram and was transferred to the Royal Indian Air Force (RIAF). The Indian Air Force owns the airport, which operates as a civil enclave managed by the Airports Authority of India. The airport lies on the foothills of the Barail range and is Northeast India's fourth-busiest Airport. According to the Airports Authority of India's 2018-19 data, Silchar Airport ranks 47th busiest airport in India regarding passenger traffic. Silchar Airport is situated at an elevation of 338 feet above sea level. It is spread across 36 acres and has only one domestic terminal. There are four check-in counters and a boarding gate at the airport, with a capacity to handle around three hundred passengers at a time.
