About Tirupati

Tirupati is a sacred city in the southeastern part of Andhra Pradesh. The city lies in the Palkonda Hills, around 134 km from Chennai and 250 km from Bangalore. Tirupati is considered the spiritual capital of Andhra Pradesh, as the city is home to the Tirumala Venkateswara Temple, also known as the Tirupati Balaji Temple. The Venkateswara Temple has tremendous historical and religious importance. The whole town revolves around this famous temple. It is said that the temple gets over 60,000 devotees every day from all corners of India, especially in South India. The city has a long history that goes back to the 9th century when it was ruled by the Pallavas and by the Cholas in the 10th century. During the 14th and 15th centuries, Tirupati was part of the Vijayanagara kingdom. Tirupati has been a religious hub since 300 AD when the Tirupati Balaji templeís construction began. Since then, different Hindu kings from different empires (whosoever ruled Tirupati at the time) contributed to the construction of the temple. During the 11th century, Shri Ramanujacharya, a Hindu theologist, formulated the rituals and practices of the Balaji temple. In the 18th century, Maratha general Raghoji I Bhonsale established a permanent body to govern the temple, independent from any political influence. This city lies at the foothills of the famous Seshachalam Hills, located in the Eastern Ghats. One of the main rivers flowing through the city is the Swarnamukhi River, which originates from the Chandragiri Hills. Before booking the Amritsar to Tirupati flight ticket, check the weather conditions because the city experiences dry and wet seasons. As the border of Nellore often experiences cyclones, the city receives a huge amount of rainfall during both the summer and monsoon seasons.

About Amritsar

Amritsar is the second-largest city in Punjab and a holy city for Sikhs. The city is located just 32 km from the nearest Indo-Pak border, Wagah. The city is most famous for the Harmandir Sahib, also called the Golden Temple. The city was founded by Guru Ram Das. He constructed an artificial pool, the Amrit Sarovar, at the centre of the city. Guru Ram Das invited 52 traders, who opened 32 shops on the street called Batisi Hatta (32 shops). The shops still stand today and laid the foundation of Amritsar as a trade city. In 1822, Maharaja Ranjit Singh started the construction of the great wall during the golden age of the Sikh Empire. Unfortunately, he wasn't able to complete the wall. After him, Sher Singh continued with the construction of the wall. He included twelve gates in the wall, some of which were Shahzada, Lahori Darwaza, Rangar Nangalia, Gilwali, and Ramgharhia. After the capture of the walled city by the British, the thirteenth gate, also termed the Hall Gate, was constructed. Amritsar experiences hot, dry weather during the summer, whereas the temperature is below freezing point during winter.
