Vijayawada Airport, also known as the NTR Amaravati International Airport (IATA: VGA, ICAO: VOBZ), serves the Amaravati Capital Region of Andhra Pradesh. The airport is located in Gannavaram, around 18 km from Vijayawada. The central government of India granted international status to the Vijayawada Airport in May of 2017. During World War 2, the airfield located in Gannavaram served as an army base.
