The Chandigarh Airport (IATA: IXC) is a customs airport serving Chandigarh city and its nearby areas. Interestingly, the airport runway is located in the union territory of Chandigarh, but the terminal is situated inside the municipal boundaries of Mohali. The airport serves as a hub for several domestic airlines and provides connections to cities in India as well as abroad. Airports Council International named it the "Best Airport in Asia-Pacific for Hygiene Measures" in 2021 recognising the airport's exemplary cleanliness standards. In the 1970s, Indian Airlines began operating flights from Chandigarh to Delhi. A new airport facility was inaugurated on April 14, 2011. It was declared a customs airport on August 19, 2011, and since then has only been authorised to serve domestic flights with a very limited number of international connections. Airports Authority of India owns a 51% stake in the new terminal building, with the Punjab and Haryana governments each owning a 24.5% stake. Chandigarh airport offers all the basic facilities including trolleys, check-in counters, medical rooms, eateries, and sufficient parking space. Sector 17 in Chandigarh is home to the new airport, which is around 14 km away from the city centre. It is easy to commute to and fro from the airport.

Bagdogra International Airport (IATA: IXB) is located on the western side of Siliguri at Bagdogra. It is run by the Indian Air Force as a civil enclave. It serves as the entry point to the hill stations of Darjeeling, Gangtok, Kurseong, Kalimpong, and Mirik, as well as other areas of the northern Bengal region. Because it is such a significant centre for transportation in the area, the airport serves thousands of visitors each year. In 2002, the airport was granted the status of a limited international airport by the Government of India, which came with some restrictions on foreign operations. The number of passengers using the airport's aviation services surpassed 1 million for the first time in 2014ñ15, representing a growth rate of 43.6%. The airport saw a rise in passenger traffic of 11.2% over the previous year, bringing the total number of passengers to 3.2 million in 2019ñ20. This places it as the 17th busiest airport in India. It is one of the very few airports in India where there is no sales tax on aviation turbine fuel. Free trolleys, baggage services, assistance to physically challenged and aged, wheelchairs, and parking space are offered by the airport. There are several food counters in the airport including a snacks bar, tea-coffee bar, and juice counter.
