About Aurangabad

Malik Ambar built Aurangabad in 1610 A.D. and it is one of the oldest cities in the country. It is situated in the northern part of the state of Maharashtra and is a very popular destination for those visiting Mumbai. For most people, Aurangabad is only known for the Ajanta and Ellora caves, but there is much more to see. Aurangabad was named after Mughal Prince Aurangzeb, who was made viceroy for the second time by his father. It was also known as the City of Gates because it had 52 gates, but only four of them still stand today. Bhadkal Gate is one of the oldest and largest gates that has been around for so long. You can visit the Naukhanda Palace of the Nizams to learn more about the royals who used to live there and how they lived. The Ajanta caves show off the skills of Buddhist monks who used simple tools to paint and carve stories from the Jataka Tales into the walls of the caves. You can also go to the Siddharth Garden Zoo. You will see wild animals like crocodiles, hyenas, snakes, and a lot more when you go to the park. Take the chance to pack a picnic basket and enjoy a lovely family day in the garden. Not only that, but you can eat the best Maharashtrian food in the city when you visit, like a traditional Maharashtrian Thali for lunch and some moong dal pakoras.
