About Gwalior Airport

Gwalior Airport is a civil enclave airport in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. It is located within the Maharajpur Air Force Station, 10 Km Northeast of the city. It is also known as the Rajmata Vijaya Raje Scindia Air Terminal and is one of Madhya Pradeshís four major airports. The airport covers a total area of 29.5 acres and can handle 200 passengers per hour. The Gwalior air base has the unique distinction of being the Indian Air Forceís sole operating base with two operable equivalent runways. The second runway was first conceived in 2006, and the building began in February 2009. This new runway first opened to the public in October 2010.
