About Trivandrum Airport

Thiruvananthapuram International Airport (IATA Code: TRV) is also said to be the first air transport hub of Kerala and is located within the city at a distance of 16 km from the beach of Kovalam and 6 km from the railway station. The airport was announced to be an international airport by former Prime Minister Shri V.P. Singh around 1991. It was earlier managed by the Airports Authority of India, but management and development have now been vested on Adani Enterprises through a public-private partnership that came into effect in 2021. The airport harbours two terminals, one each, for domestic and international airlines. The domestic terminal can handle 500 passengers each at arrivals and departures while the international terminal can manage 800 inbound and outbound passengers each. Trivandrum is now officially known as Thiruvananthapuram after being named so by the government in 1991. It was named Trivandrum by the British during their rule.
