About Leh Airport

Leh Airport (IATA: IXL), is known as Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport and is located approximately 3 km southwest of Leh. Leh Airport is named after a Buddhist lama Ngawang Lobzang Thupstan Chognor, commonly known as 19th Kushok Bakula Rinpoche. Located 10,682 feet above sea level, the airport is one of the highest commercial airports in the world. Leh Airport has a domestic terminal with a capacity of 0.8 million passengers annually. Leh Airport is one of few airports in India that is running 100% on renewable energy. The inward and outwards flights at Leh Airport offer the most breathtaking and scenic views as the runway is located between the Himalayan mountains.
