Kandla Airport (IATA IXY) is located in the Kutch district of Gujarat. It is 7 km from the city centre. The airport was originally built during the 1950s, but actual passenger flight operations started later in 1960 and remained operational till 1999. The airport later resumed its operations after a gap of seven years in 2006. The airport is spread over an area of 268 acres and has a single integrated terminal that operates domestic flights to a handful of destinations such as Ahmedabad, Delhi, and Mumbai. The airport offers various amenities such as souvenir shops, prayer rooms, childcare rooms, free Wi-Fi, ATMs, baggage trolleys, wheelchair assistance, and a smoking lounge. There are two boarding gates, one for arrivals, and the other handles departures. Only about 200 people can travel through these two gates.
