About Bhuj

Bhuj is a charming and diverse city in Gujaratís Kutch region. It is located in the lowlands between the Gulf of Kachchh and the Rann (marsh). The Samma Rajputs of Sindh ruled Bhuj from the eighth to the sixteenth centuries before the Jadeja Rajputs. It is believed that Bhujiyo Dungar, a 160-metre hill that towers over Bhuj, is the inspiration for the city's name. In the latter half of the 16th century, Bhuj came under the Mughal rule. Starting from 1741, Bhuj's most exquisite architectural masterpieces were built under the governance of Lakhpatji I (king or Rao of Kutch). All of these elements contributed to Bhuj's diverse linguistic, cultural, and religious diversity. Bhuj served as the capital of the state of Kutch from 1947 to 1956. Kutch was merged into Gujarat state after 1960. Bhuj is quite famous for its silver objects and cotton clothing. Bhajiya, Sev Khaman, Kutchi Dabeli, and Jalebi-Fafda, are some of the must-try dishes in Bhuj. There are numerous tourist attractions in Bhuj, such as the Aina Mahal, Hamirsar Lake, Mandvi, and many more. Bhuj serves as a beautiful gateway to the iconic Rann of Kutch, the white desert. This is where the legendary cultural spectacle, the Rann Utsav, takes place. Bhuj is a mesmerising historical city that combines spirituality, nature, culture, tradition, and delicious food with the allure of the desert.
