About Shillong Airport

Shillong Airport, also known as Umroi Airport (IATA: SHL), is a civilian airport located at Umroi, about 30 km away from Shillong, and has an average altitude of 2908 ft above sea level. It was established in the mid-1960s and came into operation in the mid-1970s. It is spread across an area of 224.16 acres and is operated by the Airports Authority of India. There is a single domestic terminal for domestic flights like IndiGo and Alliance Air that ply between Shillong and different Indian cities. It has six check-ins and one security counter and a capacity of handling 100 passengers, 50 each for departures and arrivals. Facilities at Shillong Airport include Baggage Services, Duty-Free Shopping and Places to Shop and Eat. Bus and Rail are the preferred means of transport for connectivity with the city. The Meghalaya Transport Corporation (MTC) buses run at different routes within the cities as well as to and from other cities.
