Shillong Airport, also known as Umroi Airport (IATA: SHL), is a civilian airport located at Umroi, about 30 km away from Shillong, and has an average altitude of 2908 ft above sea level. It was established in the mid-1960s and came into operation in the mid-1970s. It is spread across an area of 224.16 acres and is operated by the Airports Authority of India. There is a single domestic terminal for domestic flights like IndiGo and Alliance Air that ply between Shillong and different Indian cities. It has six check-ins and one security counter and a capacity of handling 100 passengers, 50 each for departures and arrivals. Facilities at Shillong Airport include Baggage Services, Duty-Free Shopping and Places to Shop and Eat. Bus and Rail are the preferred means of transport for connectivity with the city.
