About Vijayawada Airport

The Vijayawada Airport was started as a defence airport during the Second World War. Initially operating as a defence airport, it was later converted to a civilian airport. The Vijayawada International Airport (IATA Code ñ VGA) had served as a domestic airport till 2017 when the Government of India granted it the status of an international airport. It is located in the Gannavaram area of Vijayawada and was developed to serve the increasing demand for international connectivity to the region.
