About Lakshadweep Airport

Agatti Airport (IATA code: AGX) is the only airport operated in the Lakshadweep region of India. The airport was inaugurated in April 1988 for the operation of small aircraft like the Dornier 288, and later, in 2006, a modern-day terminal was constructed. The work was completed in 2010. There is one check-in and one security checkpoint inside the terminal, which is spread across 566 sq m. There is only one boarding gate at the Agatti Airport, which currently solely serves domestic scheduled flights. This terminal has a 25-passenger capacity for both arrivals and departures. The airport is situated 17 km away from the city centre. Auto-rickshaws are available from the airport. Inland ferry services are also available from the airport.

About Lakshadweep

Agatti Island is situated to the west of Kavaratti Island, the capital city of Lakshadweep. The island has an area of 3.84 sq km with a length of 10 km and a width of 1 km only. It is 459 km away from Kochi with air connectivity with the mainland of India. Fishing is the most prominent industry, along with coir and copra. Coral is the main tourist attraction of this island. The climate of Agatti Island is very similar to that of Kerala. The hottest month here is March, when the temperature ranges between 25∞C to 35∞C. The island experiences monsoon from May to September with an average rainfall of 1600mm, and the temperature ranges from 27∞C to 30∞C. During monsoons, high tides are common. Kangra-Gaggal Airport (IATA code: DHM) is a domestic airport situated approximately 14 km from Dharamshala and 8 km from the district town of Kangra. The airport has a single terminal with a seating capacity of 100 passengers. It is well-connected to Delhi and other parts of North India and is also reasonably connected with Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Pune. The airport is easily accessible from the city with private and state buses along with cabs.
