About Bhuj Airport

Bhuj Airport (IATA: BHJ) is located 5.6 km away from the Bhuj city centre in the Indian Air Force Campus. It started operations in 2003 and served the Indian Air Force as a military base, being prominent to Indiaís defence on the Pakistan border. After being damaged in the 2001 earthquake, the airport was rebuilt as a civilian airport and played an important part in helping victims get medical facilities. Dimapur Airport (IATA: DMU) is located in the 3rd Mile area of Dimapur, at a distance of 7.3 km from the city centre. Constructed during the second World War, it is an important link connecting the North East to the rest of India. It is spread across 31,167 sq m and has a 2,290 metre runway. About Dimapur

Dimapur is one of the largest cities of the Indian state of Nagaland and one of its important tourist destinations. Earlier a part of Kohima, it received district status in 1997 and is often referred to as the ëGateway to Nagaland and Manipur.í It is surrounded by Kohima at its south and east, Karbi Anglong on the west, and Golaghat on its west and north. The Kachari tribe ruled Dimapur from as early as 3000 BC, with their traces still being seen on ruins of temples, baths and embankments. Their dialect gave Dimapur its name with ëdií translating to ëriver,í ëmaí translating to ëgreatí and ëpurí meaning city. From the mid-16th century till the first World War, the Ahoms ruled the city and the British came here in the 19th century. Summers are a bit tough at Dimapur with the temperature touching 38∞C. It receives medium to heavy rainfall during monsoon and has a lot of humidity. Although the weather is generally favourable throughout the year, the best time to visit Dimapur is between October and March when the temperature can go down to around 10∞C. The Naga tribes still inhabit the city and speak the Nagamese language, apart from English.
