This is the only airport serving the state of Nagaland. The Dimapur Airport (IATA: DMU) is located around 7 km from the city in Diphupar, with the National Highway 29 passing beside it. It is owned and managed by the Airports Authority of India (AAI). Dimapur Airport is a single-terminal domestic airport. There are 6 check-in counters that can handle 250 passengers at a time. Plans for the expansion of this airport to meet international standards are on the anvil. Presently domestic airlines like IndiGo, Air India and Alliance Air operate from this airport. Dimapur is the largest city of Nagaland and the capital district of Kohima lies to its south.
