About Port Blair Airport

Veer Savarkar Airport (IATA: IXZ) serves Port Blair. It was named after a prominent freedom fighter named Vinayak Damodar Savarkar. The first flight took off from Port Blair Airport in 1957. It was a refuelling and mail service hub during World War II. The airport is managed by the Airport Authority of India (AAI). Port Blair is an International Airport with two terminals. The domestic terminal can accommodate 400 passengers for both arrival and departure. There are two boarding gates. The international flight terminal is currently under construction. There are direct flights to Bengaluru, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Chennai and Mumbai. IndiGo, SpiceJet, Vistara, Air India and Go First operate flights from this airport. Passengers have access to the airport's modern amenities, such as trolleys, duty-free shops, first-aid medical facilities, wheelchair assistance, lounges, restrooms, a lost and found baggage desk, and so on. Port Blair is the capital city of Andaman and Nicobar Islands which is home to more than 300 islands. Andaman and Nicobar Islands is a union territory of India situated in the Bay of Bengal. Dabolim Goa International Airport (IATA: GOI) is located in Dabolim village, around 30 km from Panaji and 4 km from Vasco da Gama. The airport operates as a civil enclave for the Indian Naval air base, INS Hansa. Dabolim airport has an integrated terminal building that handles domestic and international flights. Dabolim Goa International Airport features duty-free shops, restaurants and cafÈs, ATMs. Tourists can find complimentary luggage trolleys across the airport and a baggage wrapping machine at the international departure. At present, the airport does not have any luggage storage facility, but airport lounges are available on its premises.
