About Jabalpur

Situated along the famous Narmada River, Jabalpur is a city with multiple influences. The city's journey has been nothing short of eventful, from the anglicised ëJubbulporeí during British rule to Jabalpur. Many dynasties, including the Marathas, have ruled it. The Gondwana rule brought with it a new understanding of water conservation. Rani Durgawati, a Gond warrior, built more than 80 ponds in the city to ensure an adequate water supply. The city teems with opportunities from soybean cultivation to defence vehicles and ordnance factories. Tourists enjoy visits to Jabalpurís many attractions, including the 17th-century Hanumantal Bada Jain Mandir and the Rani Durgavati Museum, which houses historical artefacts and intricately designed sculptures. Boat rides on the Narmada are also popular. The trip allows visitors to take in the splendid sight of the Marble Rocks, which look especially beautiful in the moonlight.
