Jammu Aiport (IATA: IXJ), officially known as the Jammu Civil Enclave, is a domestic airport serving Jammu and nearby areas. It is only 14 km from the India-Pakistan border. Currently, the airport has a single terminal with five gates and handles only domestic flight operations. A new terminal is designed, which is expected to increase the airport's passenger handling capacity. Also called the Satwari Airport, the airport in Jammu has an asphalt runway, and a new, extended runway has recently been constructed. This new runway will soon be integrated with the existing one. The new runway allows night landing, given the advanced technology used to construct it. Jammu welcomes countless pilgrims keen to visit the magnificent Mata Vaishno Devi Temple in Katra each year. Jammu Airport is equipped with fourteen check-in desks and two gates. The terminal has a store offering traditional packaged foods, a shoe shop, a cafe, a souvenir shop, and an information booth for pilgrims visiting the Vaishno Devi temple. The airport is around 8 km from the city centre and can be easily reached by taxis, buses, and private cars.
