About Belgaum Airport

Also known as the Belagavi airport, the Belgaum airport (IATA code: IXG) is spread over 440 acres. This airport was constructed in 1942 by the Royal Air Force. Until 2018, SpiceJet was the only airline that operated at the airport. In 2019, with the implementation of UDAN-3, things changed drastically - 5 airlines (SpiceJet, Trujet, Alliance Air, Star Air, and IndiGo) started operating direct flights to 13 major cities across the country.The Belgaum airport is a domestic airport with a single terminal. The new terminal building, which was inaugurated in 2017, covers an area of 3600 square metres. This terminal can handle 300 passengers during peak hours. The beautiful gardens surrounding the terminal make it appealing. It has an elevator, 10 check-in counters, 3 frisking booths, baggage conveyor belts, and x-ray machines for baggage checking.
