Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar International Airport (IATA: IDR) is an international airport serving Indore and nearby areas in Madhya Pradesh. It is located 8 km west of Indore and is central India's busiest airport. According to the Airports Authority of India (AAI), responsible for flight operations at this airport along with maintenance, the Indore Airport is India's 20th busiest airport in India. The airport was named after Maharani Ahilya Bai Holkar of Indore, a member of the Maratha Empire's Holkar dynasty. In the 2017 Airports Council International (ACI) Airport Service Quality (ASQ) rankings, Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport in Indore was named the best airport in the Asia-Pacific Region in the sub 20 lakh (2 million) annual passenger footfall category. On April 9, 2018, Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar Airport in Indore received the Worlds Standardisation Certification from the World Book of Records in the United Kingdom, part of the ACI Award 2017. The airport commenced operations in March 2018 with night landing capabilities. There are three terminals in this airport - Domestic, International and Cargo. Jodhpur Airport is a civil enclave airport managed by the Airports Authority of India (AAI). It is a domestic airport that serves Jodhpur in Rajasthan. Maharaja Umaid Singh founded the Jodhpur Flying Club in the 1920s at a tiny airport near Chittar Palace (Umaid Bhavan Palace) in Jodhpur. The airfield expanded over the next three decades, eventually serving as a base for the Royal Air Force (RAF) during World War II. After the Royal Indian Air Force was established in 1950, the airfield was modernised (which later became the Indian Air Force). Until the Indo-Pakistan war in 1965, Jodhpur was home to the Indian Air Force's Air Force Flying College. The 12-acre civil enclave at Jodhpur houses a terminal structure with a built-up size of 5690 sq m. It can handle around 430 passengers per hour with seven check-in desks and three boarding gates.
