About Nashik Airport

Nashik Airport (IATA: ISK) is in Ozar, 20 km northeast of Nashik in Maharashtra, India. The airport is owned by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), which primarily uses the airport to research, test, and construct aircraft for the Indian Armed Forces. The airstrip was constructed in 1964 when HALís Aircraft Division in Nasik began licenced production of the fighter aircraft MiG-21FL. Other aircraft produced here include the MiG-21M, MiG-21 BIS, MiG-27 M, and Su 30 MKI. It has an Indian Air Force repair facility and supports wide-body commercial freight services. In 2011, HAL signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Maharashtra government to upgrade Ozar Airport. The new terminal structure, which spans 22 acres and has an 8,267 sq m built-up space, can seat 300 people. The airport just gained Central Government approval for Haj flights. Alliance Air, TruJet, Star Air, and SpiceJet have flights at the airport. On September 20, 2011, HAL announced the start of commercial air freight operations at Ozar Airport. After constructing more parking spaces and medical facilities, the airport is now capable of handling large-sized aircraft, such as Antonov AN-124s. Cargo charters have been offered from the airport by Volga-Dnepr Airlines, Egyptair Cargo, SpiceXpress, and others.
