About Kanpur Airport

Kanpur Airport (IATA: KNU) is a domestic airport serving the Kanpur metropolitan region in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. It began functioning as a commercial domestic airport in 2004, linking Kanpur to almost all main cities in the country. Domestic flights to and from Kanpur are operated from a single domestic terminal with two boarding gates. The terminal has a 50-passenger maximum capacity for both arrivals and departures. Because the present terminal cannot meet the high air traffic coming into Kanpur, the Airports Authority of India is planning to expand the current Chakeri civil enclave facilities in such a way that it can handle heavier Airbus-type passenger aircraft and improve its cargo handling capabilities. Passenger amenities such as a lost and found counter, free baggage handling service, wheelchairs for the physically challenged and a snack bar for refreshments. The airport is connected to the city by bus, taxi and rental cab services.
