About Indore Airport

Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar International Airport is named after the eminent personality of the Holkar dynasty from the Maratha Empire. Being an international airport, it serves Indore primarily and hosts all the flights between Kolkata and Indore. But it is also considered to be an important airport for the entire state of Madhya Pradesh. This airport is situated about 8 km west of the city of Indore and is recognised as the busiest airport in central India. This airport received a new integrated and expandable terminal in February 2012. Since then, this terminal can efficiently handle about 700 passengers every hour. In addition, the terminal also provides modern escalators, conveyor belts as well as a capable system of baggage handling. This airport has 3 aerobridges as well as 2 ATMs. Apart from these, this airport also prioritises the refreshments of the passengers of a flight from Kolkata to Indore. Hence they have a food court as well as a shopping mall. Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar International Airport is currently in its expansion stage. A lot of infrastructural improvements are yet to be made in the airport. Some of the proposed ideas are to have 16 check-in as well as immigration counters along with four more counters for customs. For better security, 569 more CCTV cameras and a few X-Ray machines are planned to be installed in the airport.
