The Gaya airport (IATA: GAY), is an international airport that was built to serve Gaya, Bihar, India. The airport is located 12 kilometers away from Gaya in the southwest direction and about 5 kilometers away from Bodh Gaya. Spread over an area of 954 acres, the airport is controlled by the Airports Authority of India (AAI). There is only one integrated terminal in the airport at present and direct flights (domestic) are available to Delhi. Cities Kolkata and Nagpur are also connected. The airline companies that provide service in this airport include IndiGo, Thai Smile, Thai AirAsia, and Drukair. Among the four airlines mentioned, apart from IndiGo, all the other foreign ones are seasonal and this is because international tourists (Buddhist tourists) come here during the specific seasons from countries like Cambodia, Vietnam, Myanmar, and Thailand.

About Kozhikode Airport

The Kozhikode airport, better known as the Calicut international airport (IATA: CCJ), is a large international airport in the Malappuram district in the South-Indian state of Kerala. Located at a distance of 25 kilometers from the city of Malappuram and about 28 kilometers from Kozhikode city, the airport holds great importance as it primarily serves the large Malabar region of Malappuram, Kozhikode, Palakkad, and Wayanad. This airport is one of the busiest airports in India in terms of having the most international traffic yearly. Currently, it holds the sixth position in this regard. The name is derived from the mythical demon Gayasur who was subdued by Lord Vishnu on the hills surrounding Gaya. There is a legend about the 40 feet long footprint of Lord Vishnu in this place.
