About Dehradun Airport

Jolly Grant Airport or the Dehradun Airport (DED), is located around 22 km from the city. The airport is around 30 km away from Haridwar and 35 km from Rishikesh. The airport was built way back in 1972. However, only Vayudoot operated flights between 1982 and 1995 and later Air Deccan in 2004. The airport is well-networked with other major airports across India and managed by the Airport Authority of India (AAI). IndiGo, SpiceJet, Vistara, and Air India are a few airlines operating from this airport. There are a few places to shop and eat within the airport. Luggage and lounge facilities are also available. Interstate buses, private cabs, taxis and trains ply from the airport to Dehradun, Rishikesh and Haridwar. The airport is well-connected to Rishikesh, Chakrata, Haridwar, and other towns by road.

About Lakshadweep Airport

Agatti Airport (AGX), the only airstrip in Lakshadweep, lies on the southern end of Agatti Island. This public airport serves the chain of islands of Lakshadweep and is operated by the Airports Authority of India (AAI). The aerodrome has a runway around 1,291-metre-long and one passenger terminal. The airport currently has only a single terminal, with a boarding gate handling only domestic flights. The terminal can handle 25 passengers each for departures and arrivals. Though the airport was launched in April 1988, the terminal construction was completed only by the end of 2010. There is a check-in and a security counter within the terminal, covering an area of 566 sq. mtr. Air India Regional operates frequent flights between Cochin and Agatti. The airport has connectivity to other major cities in India too. Services and facilities offered at the airport include baggage screening, wheelchairs, medical facilities, a snack bar and a beverage counter for the convenience of passengers. Auto-rickshaws ply outside the airport. Ferry services to Bangaram Island are also available from the airport.
