The Agatti Island airport is a domestic airport (IATA: AGX) that was constructed to serve Agatti island, located in the union territory of Lakshadweep, India. The airport is the only airstrip active in Lakshadweep and is located in the southern part of the island of Agatti. The airport is a public airport that spreads over 45.9 acres and is 30 metres wide and over 1,200 metres long. There are plans to expand and renovate the airport. The AAI is the governing body of this airstrip. The airport has been active since 16th April 1988 with a temporary and small structure. However, a larger terminal building, air traffic control tower, and other important infrastructure were created after 2006. At present, the capacity of the only terminal in Agatti airport is 25 for both arrivals and departures. There is one boarding gate and they handle domestic flights. To reach Agatti island, passengers have to go via Kochi, which is also known as the Gateway to Lakshadweep.
