Tezpur Airport (IATA: TEZ), also known as Salonibari Airport, was developed during the Second World War by the British Royal Indian Air Force. After the war, the airport was developed into an active air base and used for commercial purposes. Since then, it has been operated and managed by the Airports Authority of India. This airport, situated at an elevation of 230 feet above sea level, has frequent flight connectivity to major Indian cities like New Delhi and Kolkata. It is located at a distance of 15 km from the main Tezpur town. This airport has a single terminal, which has a capacity of nearly 400 passengers in total. The airport offers its passengers facilities like free trolleys, restrooms, snack corners, restaurants, handicraft shops, medical facilities, and duty-free shops. It also has ATMs, a smoking lounge, a prayer room, and a childcare room. It is equipped with baggage carousels, two check-in counters, and one security counter. You can take the city bus from the Assam State Road Transport service, rent a car, or hire a taxi to travel from the airport to the city.

Tezpur is located in the Sonitpur district of Assam on the north bank of the River Brahmaputra. It is the fifth largest and oldest city in Assam and the major cultural and administrative hub of the northern part of the state. The name of the city is derived from the Sanskrit words Teza, which means blood, and Pura, which means town or city. According to legend, a fierce battle was fought between Hari (Lord Krishna) and Hara (Lord Shiva in the form of Banasura, the king), and the entire city was drenched in human blood. This led to the place being named Tezpur. In 1953, the British colonial administration founded Tezpur as headquarters of the district Darrang, and later in 1983, Tezpur became the headquarters of the new district Sonitpur. This city has a lot to offer, from its picturesque landscape to the undulating stretch of tea gardens, wildlife, temples, and other heritage sites that attract a large number of tourists every year. Due to its rich cultural heritage, it is also called the Cultural Capital of Assam. The city is famous for its tea plantations and is home to more than 70 tea gardens, including the worldís biggest tea garden. The economy of Tezpur is largely dependent on its tea gardens. Tezpur experiences mild summers, with temperatures ranging between 24∞C and 35∞C. It is advisable to avoid the monsoon season, from June to September, because of the torrential, unpredictable downpour that can make sightseeing unpleasant. The best time to visit the city is during winter, from October to April, when the temperature varies between 12∞C and 28∞C. The climate is pleasant and comfortable during this period and suitable for sightseeing. The main tourist attractions in Tezpur include Mahabhairab Temple, Chitralekha Udyan, Agnigarh, Padum Pukhuri, and Bamuni Hills.

Agatti Airport (IATA: AGX) is the only airport that serves the archipelago of Lakshadweep. The airport is a marvel with its runway almost appearing to stretch out into the wide blue ocean. It is located on the southernmost point of the island. Operated by the Airports Authority of India, Agatti Airport has a 1,291 m long asphalt runway and one passenger terminal with one boarding gate currently handling only domestic flights. The terminal has a capacity of 25 for both arrivals and departures. There is a single check-in counter and security counter, two X-ray baggage screening counters, free wheelchairs and medical assistance. The Air India Regional provides regular flights between Agatti Island and Cochin on certain days of the week. There are several auto-rickshaws outside the airport to ferry passengers to their desired destinations. Ferry services to Bangaram Island are also available from Agatti Airport. The airport terminal has a snack bar and beverage centre, so passengers can grab a bite or quench their thirst while awaiting their flights.

Agatti Island is a 7.6 km long island situated on a coral atoll called Agatti atoll. It is also known as the Gateway to Lakshadweep. It comprises a small cluster of islands that lie about 459 km off the coast of Cochin from the mainland. Bangaram is the nearest island, and is situated approximately 7 km in the southwest direction. Due to an abundance of fish near the islands, fishing is the most important industry and Agatti is considered to be the fishing centre of Lakshadweep. Coir and copra are the other main industries of the island. The island stretches for approximately 6 km and is home to beautiful scenery and marine life. Agatti has a small airport, which is the only airport in Lakshadweep, that makes this small island more accessible to the tourists. The northern side of the island is more densely populated, whereas the southern side is less populated. Swimming, fishing, and water sports, like snorkelling, scuba diving, kayaking, sailing, and water skiing are all popular tourist activities in this region. The most common language spoken here is Malayalam. Most of the local food, whether vegetarian or non-vegetarian, is spicy and flavoured with coconut. The climate of Agatti is somewhat similar to that of Kerala. The summer season, from March to May, is the hottest period of the year, with temperatures ranging from 25∞C to 35∞C. The monsoon lasts from May to September. During this season, boats are not allowed to venture out into the high seas because of the stormy weather and rough seas. The reef helps to maintain calm at the lagoon. The best time to visit Agatti Island is during winter, from November to February.
