About Lakshadweep Airport

Agatti Airport (IATA: AGX, ICAO: VOAT) is located on Agatti Island, in the Union Territory of Lakshadweep. This is the only airfield in the Lakshadweep archipelago off the west coast of India. The single terminal at the airport has one check-in counter handling only domestic scheduled flights with a capacity of about 50 passengers. The airport has wheelchair and medical facilities, snack bar and beverage centres. Guests are only allowed to enter the island after obtaining confirmed stay reservations. Entry permits have to be procured by the hotels from the Lakshadweep Administration on behalf of their guests. From the airport, travellers can hire auto rickshaws or ferries to take them around Agatti and to nearby islands.

About Lakshadweep

Agatti Island located west of Kavaratti Island is the most accessible island in Lakshadweep. This island is 17.50 sq. km in area and is blessed with aquatic diversity including turtles, coral growths and multicoloured fishes. Fishing is the most significant industry on Agatti and the principal industries are coir and copra. Commonly known as ëLakshadweep's Fishing Capitalí, Agatti features one of the most picturesque lagoons on the island.
