Agartala Airport (IATA: IXA) is the third-busiest airport in Northeast India, located 11 km northeast of Tripura's capital city. Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur constructed the airport in 1942. The airport served as a supply hub for the Allied forces during the second world war, with pallets of ammunition and supplies airdropped. Agartala Airport has a single terminal with two boarding gates that can accommodate 250 passengers for arrivals and departures. The terminal also contains 14 check-in desks, four security checks, and one immigration counter for travellers' convenience. Passengers can also hire a private bus or automobile to go to and from the airport. Travellers can also make use of pre-paid cab services.
