About Lucknow Airport

Lucknow Airport, also known as Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport or (IATA Code: LKO) is located in Amausi, Lucknow. The airport is India's 13th busiest and the 2nd biggest after Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi. Even though the airport was first built in 1986, it only got international status in 2012. In July 2013, Lucknow Airport has been recognised as the Best Airport by the Airports Authority of India (AAI). There are two terminals at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport. Terminal 1 is the one that was built and is reminiscent of the design of Charbagh Railway Station. It was initially designed for local arrivals and departures exclusively, but with the development of the second terminal, it now serves international aircraft operations as well. Terminal 2 was launched in May 2012, and it has since been utilised entirely for domestic flights. Restaurants, duty-free shops, ATMs, luggage storage, information kiosks, etc. are some facilities available at the airport. It is only 10 km from the city's major railway station and can be reached by buses, taxis and rental cars.

About Lucknow

Lucknow is the second most important city in the area, after Delhi, and the seventh-biggest city in India. It is well-connected to all the important cities in the country. It also has a far higher reading rate than the rest of the state. This has contributed to its importance as a centre of commerce, industry, research, education and tourism. Lakshman, Lord Ram's younger brother, is said to have established the city which bears his name. As Lucknow increased in importance, it fell under the control of many kingdoms, notably the Delhi Kings and the Mughals. In the 18th and 19th centuries, the city became the seat of the Nawabs of Awadh. They gave it so much attention that it became known as the Golden City and the Constantinople of the East. The breakup of the Mughal Empire established Awadh as a separate state. Today, Lucknow is an urban powerhouse with the elegance of the royal days, a perfect blend of the classic Nawabi courts and modernity. Lucknowís vibrant art, culture and history along with the amazing architecture and monuments make it a great place to visit.
