Hubballi Airport (IATA: HBX), is located 8 km west of Hubli and is the nearest airport to Vidyanagar. It is a domestic airport in the state of Karnataka. Also known as Hubli Airport , it started operations in 2003, and after the proposed expansion in 2017, the area of the airfield was increased from 369 acres to 615 acres. The Hubli airport provides direct access to Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Mysore, and Ghaziabad (Delhi NCR). Airlines such as IndiGo and Star Air are the primary flight operators at the airport. The Airport has a single terminal and can handle 300 peak hour passengers at a time. The Hubli Airport has all the necessary amenities and conveniences for passengers, including check-in counters, baggage conveyors, elevators, public address systems, firefighting and fire alarm systems, HVAC systems, flight information displays (FIDS), CCTV, baggage scanners, and parking facilities. Passengers can book car rental services from inside the terminal and avail of general taxis from outside the airport. Vidyanagar Township, also known as JSW Vidyanagar, is a small town in Karnataka developed by Jindal Steel Works. This domestic airport serves the holy city Prayagraj and has direct connectivity with Delhi, Mumbai, Lucknow, Bhubaneswar, Pune, Raipur, Bhopal, Indore, Bilaspur, Dehradun, Gorakhpur, and Bilaspur.
