About Shillong Airport

Shillong airport, (IATA: SHL), also known as the Umroi Airport, is a civilian airport located at a distance of about 31 km from the heart of Shillong city. It started operations in the mid 1970s and is operated jointly by the Airport Authority of India and the Indian Air Force. It is a unique airport situated more than 2900 feet above sea level and in the backdrop of Meghalayaís scenic beauty. IndiGo is also a major airline operating from the airport, along with Alliance Air. The airport connects to cities such as Kolkata, Dibrugarh, Silchar, Aizawl, Imphal, Agartala, Guwahati, Dimapur and Lilabari.
