It is located in Hinoo which is approximately about 5 km away from Ranchi city centre. It is named after one of the greatest Indian Tribal freedom fighters Birsa Munda and was inaugurated in 1995. This airport is the 27th busiest in the country and in recent years the increased traffic has resulted in enormous growth for the airport and has significantly boosted Jharkhand tourism. The airport is facilitated with a single terminal for arrival and departure and has a capacity of handling 125 passengers for arrivals and departures.
