Biju Patnaik Airport (IATA: BBI, ICAO: VEBS), popularly known as Bhubaneswar Airport, is located 5km southwest of the Bhubaneswar railway station and 3 km from the city centre. It is one of the busiest airports in India and is named after Biju Patnaik, a famous aviator and freedom fighter and a former Chief Minister of Odisha.The airport has two terminals: Terminal 1 handles domestic flights, and Terminal 2 manages international flights.Several recreational lounges, internet, medical assistance, information desks, child care rooms, rest and retiring rooms, complimentary luggage trolleys, ATMs and restaurants are available at Bhubaneswar Airport. Salem Airport is about 15 km away from the city and is the sixth airport in Tamil Nadu. This airport is built on 136 acres of land donated by local industrialists and traders.It opened in April 1993, and Kingfisher Airlines began daily flights from Salem to Chennai in November 2009. The airport's runway is 1.8 km long, and its terminal can accommodate two ATR aeroplanes and 100 passengers at a time.The airport has only one domestic terminal, sometimes used for flight and pilot training. It is connected to the city via bus and train.
