Chandigarh Airport, also known as Mohali Airport , is an international airport that serves the Union Territory of Chandigarh as well as the region of Mohali, Punjab, Haryana, and Panchkula. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new terminal at Chandigarh Airport on September 11, 2015 . This new terminal, developed by Larsen & Toubro, is the very first of its kind in India. Plants are placed throughout the airport to create the illusion of a natural park. The airport has 48 check-in counters, 6 boarding gates, three aerobridges, four luggage conveyor belts etc. This eco-friendly airport also has LED lighting, energy-efficient cooling systems, a double-insulated roofing structure, sensor-based tap mechanisms, rainwater harvesting, and a 600KLD wastewater treatment plant to purify sewage before it can be utilised for irrigation.
