Shimla to Amritsar Flights

Amritsar Airport, named after the city's founder, Guru Ram Das, serves the states of Punjab, Jammu, and Himachal Pradesh. The airport is located approximately 11 km from the centre of the city on the Amritsar-Ajnala road. It is one of the largest airports in North India, handling over 100 domestic and international flights daily. A new integrated terminal was launched in 2009 as part of a national project to modernise airports. As a result, the airport's capacity doubled and there were structural renovations, runway extensions, and improved cargo processing facilities. The upgraded airport can accommodate 1.46 million people per year. During peak hours, the new terminal can accommodate 1,200 people per hour. Domestic flight operators at Amritsar Airport include Air India, Air India Express, and SpiceJet. Internal flights are operated by Air India, Turkmenistan Airlines, Uzbekistan Airways, and Qatar Airways. The airport features 30 check-in stations for speedier check-ins, currency exchange offices, and ATMs. Two functioning aero-bridges provide rapid and easy passenger transit to and from the terminal.

Amritsar, gets its name from the Amrit Sarovar, the sacred reservoir surrounding the spectacular Golden Temple. Guru Ramdas, who was the fourth Sikh Guru, founded Amritsar in 1579. One of the main attractions in Amritsar is the Golden Temple, also known as the Harmandir Sahib Gurudwara. Pilgrims wash their hands at the entrance of the passage surrounded by the holy Amrit Sarovar pond. Amritsar is particularly well known for the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, as well as its proximity to the Wagah Border. Amritsari cuisine is well known globally for its generous portions and exquisite taste. Amritsar is also a leading agricultural state in the country.

Shimla Airport is located in the Himachal Pradesh area of Jubbarhatti. The airport was built by removing the mountains and levelling the land to create a runway. This airport's runway is 1,230 metres long. The Shimla airport airfield can accommodate two medium-sized planes at the same time. Currently, only one commercial flight operates from this airport, to New Delhi. This airport is also utilised by several government institutes for pilot training. Shimla Airport has just one domestic terminal serving small flights and one commercial airline, Alliance Air, to New Delhi. VIP private planes also land at this airport. Shimla Airport provides baggage trolleys and many other services. It also has a shopping centre and various cafÈs that offer fresh cuisine to travellers.

Shimla, originally Simla, is the capital of the state of Himachal Pradesh in northwestern India. At around 7,100 ft, the city is located northeast of Chandigarh on a ridge of the Himalayan foothills (2,200 m). The British used Shimla as a summer resort due to its temperate climate and attractive environment, and it served as India's summer capital from 1865 to 1939. It was also the state capital of Punjab from 1947 to 1953 until the new capital city of Chandigarh was built. Today, Shimla is one of India's most prominent hill resorts. It is a rail terminal on a significant road 280 km north of Delhi. Shimla is also an agricultural trading centre, with the presence of industries such as light manufacturing, brewing, and handloom weaving.
