Indore Airport also known as Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar Airport is located at a distance of approximately 8 km from the city centre. The airport got its name from Maharani Ahilya Bai Holkar, a queen of the Holkar Dynasty under the Maratha Empire. It is owned by the Airports Authority of India and first became operational in 1966. The airport serves many nearby towns and villages in Madhya Pradesh. The busiest airport in the central part of India, it is also the eighteenth-busiest airport in India. In 2012, a new integrated terminal was launched at the Indore Airport, serving both domestic and international passengers. The airport can handle as many as 700 passengers per hour. It has two terminals: Terminal 1 for domestic routes equipped with escalators, two lifts, a baggage system, and more. Terminal 2 handles international flight traffic. The airport is spread over an area of around 730 hectares, and ten aircraft can be accommodated on the main apron simultaneously. There are advanced night landing facilities at the airfield. The airport was awarded The Best Airport for Customer Satisfaction under the 2.5 Million Annual Passenger Capacity both size and region-wise thrice in a row by ACI World International. There are modern escalators, advanced baggage handling systems, X-ray machines, CCTVs, free internet services, restaurants, lifts, ATMs, shopping stalls, and more at the airport.

Chandigarh International Airport (IATA code: IXC) is named after the famous freedom fighter Bhagat Singh and is known as Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport. It is located at a distance of around 9 km from the city centre. The airport is a collaboration by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) partnering with the Governments of Punjab and Haryana. Numerous domestic flights and only 2 international flights operate at the airport. Airlines like IndiGo, Vistara, and Air India operate at the airport. The new terminal was inaugurated in 2015. It received an award from the Airports Council International in 2021 for being the best in terms of hygiene. The airport is equipped with modern facilities like escalators, wheelchair facilities, free internet, restaurants, ATMs, places to shop and eat, duty-free shopping, etc. Chandigarh Airport is served by both taxis and buses. The city train station is 13 km away and is accessible by road.

Shimla, also named Simla, is the capital of the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh in the northern region. It was renamed Shimla in 1972 and is the largest city in Himachal Pradesh situated above seven hills. The city derives its name from the incarnation of Goddess Kali, Shyamala Mata. The city used to be the summer capital of the British and was later declared the capital of Punjab post-independence. The oldest post office was established in the city in 1882. The city has historical importance as several meetings and conferences were held during the pre-independence period. The architectural features of the buildings present in Shimla have neo-Gothic and Tudorbethan styles. The Kalka-Shimla rail line is an engineering wonder with its 102 tunnels and is recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site (Mountain Railway). The city also serves as a major educational hub and cultural and commercial centre. Shimla does not have an airport of its own. It is accessible by road or rail only. Shimla has the only natural ice skating rink, which is the largest in Asia. Capsicum plantation was introduced here for the first time by the British. It is a very popular tourist destination, and people from states like Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, etc., visit the city to find relief from the extremely hot climate during the summers and enjoy the snowfall during the winter months. A number of temples and churches can be found here. One of the most popular tourist attractions is the Kalka-Shimla Railway Line built by the British in ancient times. Some of the delicacies one should try out here are the Madra, Chicken Anardana, Sidu, Daam, Chha Gosht, Thukpa, and Babru. As the elevation of the city is as high as 7,467 ft, the city enjoys a subtropical highland type of climate. It is extremely cold during winters and fairly moderate during the summers. The temperature falls below 0∞C during the winter season.
