Indore Airport also known as Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar Airport is located at a distance of approximately 8 km from the city centre. The airport got its name from Maharani Ahilya Bai Holkar, a queen of the Holkar Dynasty under the Maratha Empire. It is owned by the Airports Authority of India and first became operational in 1966.
