The Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar Airport is a public airport located around 8 km from Indore's centre. The Indian government acquired the airport in 1950 and a new runway of length 5,600 feet was built in 1966, allowing larger aircraft to land and take off. Night landing services were also added.
