About Silchar Airport

Silchar Airport (IATA: IXS) is located in Kumbhirgram, Assam, about 29 km from Silchar. It was built by the British as RAF Station Kumbhirgram in 1944 and subsequently handed over to the Indian Air Force. It is also a civil enclave airport under the control of the Indian Air Force. The airport is located at the foothills of Barail mountain range.
