About Ooty Airport

Located 14 km from the city centre, Tirupati Airport (IATA: TIR), also known as the Renigunta Airport, covers an area of 312 acres. It currently has just one terminal for domestic flights, but there is ongoing expansion work to make it suitable for the Code-E aircraft. The existing runway is slated to be extended to 3,810 m (12,500 ft). The new integrated terminal known as Garuda Terminal was established in 2015. The terminal can handle 500 domestic and 200 international passengers at one time. The new terminal now boasts 4 immigration counters and 18 check-in counters. It also has five baggage conveyor belts: four for arrival and one for departure. In addition, it includes two VIP lounges, three baggage-claim carousels, and parking space for around 250 cars. Within the airport, there are several restaurants, snack bars, and cafÈs offering food at pocket-friendly prices. There are also shops selling ethnic jewellery, handicrafts, books, newspapers, and magazines . One can travel in a taxi or rental car to the city centre.

About Ooty

Ooty or Udhagamandalam or Ootacamund is a beautiful hill station situated on the Western Ghats in the state of Tamil Nadu. The hill station has earned the moniker ëThe Queen of Hill Stations í.
