About Prayagraj Airport

Prayagraj Airport, also known as Allahabad Airport (IATA: IDX), is an army airbase as well as a commercial airport that serves Allahabad in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. It is situated near Bamrauli, 12 km from Allahabad city, it is a domestic airport. The airport is one of India's oldest. The Indian Air Force as well as the Airports India Authority jointly run the airport. After Varanasi and Lucknow, it is Uttar Pradesh's third-largest airport. The recently built terminal was made available to the public in January 2019 and has since been used for Allahabad's regular flight operations. The terminal is 6700 sq m in size, with a peak hour capacity of 300 passengers and four Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 aircraft parking bays. The airport features ILS CAT-I compatible for landing in low visibility, inclement weather, and at night. In addition to building the new terminal, the Instrument Landing System was installed during the 2018ñ2019 expansion phase. The ILS installation not only improved safety for landing aircraft in visibility as low as 550 metres, but it also allowed the airport to start running flights at night.
