Frequently Asked Questions

Your luggage is considered delayed when it doesn’t arrive at your destination. When it doesn’t arrive even after the stipulated time (usually 21-30 days) and the airline is unable to locate it, then its considered ‘lost’.
Compensation varies by airline and can include reimbursement for essential items you need to purchase while waiting for your baggage to arrive, as well as compensation for the lost or delayed baggage itself.
To reduce the risk of lost or delayed baggage, make sure your luggage is properly labelled with your name and contact information, and consider using a tracking device or tag. Additionally, try to arrive at the airport early to give the airline ample time to process your baggage.
If your baggage is never found, the airline may offer compensation for the lost baggage and its contents, in accordance with their policies and procedures. Make sure to keep all your travel documents and receipts related to the lost baggage to support your claim for compensation.
It’s always advisable to carry high-priced items like electronic gadgets, jewellery, luxury bags, etc in your hand luggage instead of cabin luggage. But that is not always possible, then always make a list of items that are there in the bag and keep it handy, in case the airlines ask for specifications of the items in the bag.
You can shrink wrap your cabin luggage or add a zipper cover and lock it as well. You can also add numbered cable ties and make a note of the number. If someone has opened your bag and replaced it another one, you will know that the bag has been tampered with.
You can reach out to the airline helpdesk and enquire how they want you to send your claim for delayed or lost luggage. They usually share a claim form, which you can fill and give or else they will ask you to drop an email to the airline's customer service department. Make sure you follow up at intervals to expedite the process of compensation. Attaching a list of belongings in the baggage can help you get the right compensation instead of some measly amount that doesn’t justify the inconvenience.
Firstly, understand the reasons behind their refusal and then take appropriate action. You can either seek legal advice or reach out to the higher airport authority. It’s always advisable that you as a traveller be reasonable and patient with the process and give out as much legitimate and relevant info to the authorities.
