Hotel Viswa Grand

This is a neat hotel with spacious rooms and courteous staff. The rooms were well furnished. There is ample parking on a piece of vacant land across the road from this hotel which is gated and secured by the security staff. The hotel is located very close the key attractions at Kanyakumari (5 minutes by car, and approximately 20 minutes by walk) and is easily accessible. The main issue we had with this hotel was the food & room service. Their room service was often staffed by people who had no clue what they were doing. Once when we called for room service, the person on the phone simply said nothing on the menu was available. After 5 - 10 minutes we received a call from someone else who apologized and said that the earlier guy was "new" and did not know. But we had this experience multiple times during our 2-day stay. The food itself was also a mixed bag. Some dishes were delicious, but some others were completely different from what we were expecting. Though the room itself was spacious and comfortable, the bathroom was a bit underwhelming with extremely traditional setup and very old fittings. Overall, our stay was comfortable, but I couldn't help but feel that it could have been so much better. Another thing that I feel must be mentioned was their hesitance to accept credit card payments — we were met with the age-old refrain that paying by credit card would cost us extra. That there still are hotels in the year 2023 which shy away from accepting credit cards was hard to believe! If you are looking for just a place to crash with no luxury, this might be good value for money.

Rooms are fine but can't say it has a wow factor. Had insects in rooms though all windows were closed, but somehow got attracted to room lights. Bathroom were not that great. No 24/7 room service as qe couldn't get coffee at 10pm when we checked in. AC remote weren't working. I checked in only for on drive stay for night, but for the price tag of 4000/- per night, it should be a bit more premium.
