Stream Valley Cottages

A fantastic place to visit with your friends and family. But the price charged is definitely much higher than the service and amenities. A natural mountainous place with all the experiences. The perfect resort to spend happy time with kids and family. You can spend time not only with family but also with friends. Mainly if you come with a lot of kids the resort management will make facilities for them to play a lot. But they will charge for this alone. But the dinner at this resort may be a little better, not as good as when we tasted it. The staff are reliable and polite. The cottage facility should be very well maintained and of course it is not worth the money they charge. In that cold weather, warm water is a must at all times, but it is not available to us especially in the morning

We booked our trip a day before our arrival on a Sunday. I called them before actually booking it and they offered to upgrade a Deluxe room to Super Deluxe room. I requested for a room next to the stream and they obliged. Reaching there is easy; Google map directions were correct, but if that does not work - it is on the same road as the uber-famous (and uber-expensive) Vythiri Resort. While the surrounding area of the hotel may not seem like much, they have maintained the premises of the hotel to give it a jungle-ish charm. First thing I noticed was, there was no designated place for parking, I parked my bike underneath a tree in their premise. They do have a huge lawn near this tree where cars were parked. We had to cross the bridge on the stream to reach our room. Room was quite specious. It is basically a bedroom, a dining room cum kitchen and the balcony. In the dining room they had a dining table with chairs, TV, a kettle on the kitchen ramp and a sofa that faced the glass door to the balcony. In short, it was great - specious and clean. Bedroom was also specious with glass windows, where you could sit on the bed and look out to the greenery. Balcony had a couple of chairs. It was huge too and could fit in a couple of single beds end to end. Bathroom was clean, but without geyser. There was no AC in the room - not that AC was required (we went there in summer - 1st week of May). Service was prompt and the staff were very courteous. They prepared dinner just they way we instructed - none spicy and tasty. Breakfast was complimentary and they had options for Set-Dosa, Bread-Jam, Bread-Omlet, Upma. The portion of food were huge, we had a tough time finishing our Set-Dosa and Upma. Breakfast was tasty but a bit spicy. Our stay there was amazing. The view from balcony is hard to beat. There was greenery all around with the stream with clear water flowing 15 feet away from the room. The stairs to reach the stream was right next to our room. We sat on the balcony for hours and enjoyed the customary rain every evening in Wayanad. They had the place well lit throughout the night as well. Taking morning walk across the premise we understood why so many people left negative comments for the place (specially "the place not being maintained"). When you go to the ends of the premise you would see bushes growing - we loved the greenery, but I do understand the complain from those who stayed near those area. Also, some cottages were NOT in front of the stream and I can imagine the view from those rooms may not have been as great as that from our room. In all, we had a really really good time here. We got the amazing cottage for an unbelievable price of 1900(GoIbibo). But, do visit the place - but insist on either Nanda or Nalanda rooms - they are the best.
