        Please keep in mind that this three star rating is for a five star hotel. Good: The location of the Taj is perfect. It's part of the City Palace complex and the view is of the other 'more famous' Taj - the one on the water. Bad: I am an American, I don't want to be served, but jeez the staff could have acted a little excited to see us. The hotel was EMPTY, but we always seemed to have to wait to get help. The Ok: The room was quiet and comfortable, but a little messy from trash the cleaning crew forgot to pick up (balloons behind the curtain from a previous stay). By no means did this make the room unclean, but it was a serous oversight. Food: Honestly, the breakfast spread was pretty lackluster. The dinner wasn't great either. The food was hygienic, but just lacked.

        Stayed at this Beautiful property in July 2023 for two days from July 29 to July 31st. We had the Royal Suite and the Deluxe Suite both during our stay. The property is beautiful. The housekeeping staff as well as restaurant staff both met my expectation. My main complaint is with the check-in, check-out and overall front office staff. There was no crowd and yet that particular staff was very impersonal, uninterested and overall lacked the hospitality one would expect from such establishment. A small example of this is that pre-check out I inquired with the management staff as to my inability to collect rewards using the Tata Taj app or website and that I wanted to make sure I would be able to collect the points. I was assured that I will be assisted and the matter will be addressed by them with their technical team during check-out process. However during the check out while one of the staff members that was processing our check-out was making the effort of contacting the relevant department and resolving the issue with the rewards, as soon as our payment processed, another - what I would assume to be more senior management staff (lady) - abruptly took over the check-out and hinted to the staff member that was already assisting us that she will take over and help us from that point. But immediately we felt rushed out the door and to my surprise I was handed a generic rewards program signup brochure. When I tried to explain that I was already signed up and a member and that the issue was with collecting rewards itself and not signup up for the program. Before I even finished my sentence she again abruptly told me not to worry that the rewards will apply and that I can call the number on the brochure. While the suites, the onsite amenities were up to the mark, the check in and the check out process left a very poor impression. I never was able to collect the points for this stay.
