About Doha

Doha, Arabic Al-Dawhah, the capital of Qatar, is situated on the Persian Gulf on the east coast of the Qatar Peninsula. The city is home to more than two-fifths of Qatar's population. Doha, located on a shallow harbour has long been a regionally important port. It serviced only small boats due to offshore coral reefs and shallow seas until the development of its deepwater port in the 1970s.

In Doha, Arabian desert culture and architecture coexist, with breathtaking skylines, international culinary hotspots, and flashy vehicles. In addition, the abundant career possibilities and great quality of life lure millions of foreigners to this sunny nation. Consequently, Doha is now a fascinating cultural city and home to the world's second-largest ex-pat population.

From promenades and art galleries to stunning marketplaces and parks, Doha has something to offer to all kinds of travellers. Some of the popular tourist spots in the city include Souq Waqif, the National Museum of Qatar, Falcon Souq, and Katara Art Centre.

From May through September, Doha endures lengthy, dry heat summers, with temperatures exceeding 45°C. Winter temperatures are moderate, which may drop below 5°C. The greatest time to enjoy local culture is during the high season (November to March). In November, the temperature of Doha reduces significantly, making sightseeing much more pleasant.
