About Riyadh Airport

King Khalid International Airport (KKIA) was established in late 1983 and is located 35 km from North Riyadh. It is also known by the name of Riyadh Airport (IATA code: RUH). KKIA is the second-largest airport in Saudi Arabia after the Jeddah Airport. The most outstanding feature of this airport is its mosque-like structure.

For the convenience of travellers, the airport has come up with several amenities like ATMs, travel agencies, currency exchange, retail concessions, drink, food, duty-free, medical services, an information desk, and a mosque inside the airport. Buying coffee from Starbucks warrants unlimited Wi-fi service at Riyadh Airport. Lost and found offices are at Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, which work 24/7. The mosque in the airport can surprisingly accommodate 5000 worshippers inside and 5000 outside. The luggage storage service at the airport is valid for up to 15 days.

King Khalid International Airport was built to fulfil the requirement of the increasing demand for international and local air transportation. Hence, there are five terminals at KKIA, of which there are three operating terminals - Terminal 1, Terminal 2, and Terminal 5, as well as the Royal Terminal. All three terminals (that is, Terminal 1, Terminal 2, and Terminal 5) are connected with shuttle bus services and moving walkways. To get from or to RUH Airport, one can use a shuttle, metro, taxi, or car rental service.

About Riyadh

In 1932, Riyadh was appointed as the capital of Saudi Arabia. It is situated approximately 600 metres above sea level in the middle of the Arabian peninsula, specifically in the eastern part of a rocky plateau region called Najd. This small fortified desert at night, viewed from above, is a spectacular sight as the city lights sparkle like fluorescent flower gardens in the dark.Riyadh is a Muslim-dominated nation with over 4000 mosques and countless flamboyant shopping centres. Around two-thirds of the city’s population consists of Saudi nationals, while one-half of the non-Saudi population is represented by Asians (largely Indians and Pakistanis) and two-fifths by Arabs (Egyptians and Yemenis majorly). Europeans and Americans also constitute a small minority who reside in the city. Arabic is the official language of Saudi Arabia, used for all business purposes, followed by English, which, besides being widely spoken, is taught as a compulsory second language in all schools.Riyadh is recognised as a well-known cultural capital by UNESCO due to the many cultural centres located here. One of the most famous cultural centres in Riyadh is the King ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz Historical Centre. Several well-appointed squares, public parks, and restaurants adorn the city. Riyadh is also known for hosting the national heritage event, Al-Jinādiriyyah, which is one of the largest annual cultural events in the Arab world, held near Riyadh.

About Colombo

The city of Colombo was named by the Portuguese in the year 1505. It is believed that the name is derived from the Sinhalese word 'Kolon thota', which means 'port on the river Kelani'. Sri Lanka is an island located in the Indian Ocean, and Colombo is the commercial capital and largest city of Sri Lanka. This city is situated on the west coast of Sri Lanka and is adjacent to the capital city, Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte. It has several canals, with Beira lake spreading across 160 acres, situated right in the heart of the city. Earlier, Colombo was the capital city during Portuguese and later Dutch rule. Even during British rule, Colombo city continued to be the capital of Sri Lanka and was well-known as British Ceylon. This is evident in the streets of Colombo, which are an amalgamation of both colonial and modern buildings. Even though the island got its freedom long ago in 1948, its food, culture, and architecture are still influenced by the colonial period. Perhaps, that's the reason for Colombo city to be more developed than any other city on the island. The people of Colombo are mainly Sinhalese (41.36), Tamils (28.91), and Moors (23.87). Small minorities of the Dutch, Portuguese, Malay, Chinese, and Indian Tamils make up the rest of the diverse population. Sinhala and Tamil are the official languages spoken in this city, with English used for commercial and business purposes. Due to its rich geographical features and riveting history, along with the touch of modernisation, the city has quickly become a popular tourist destination.
